CKLC and HFPJC conduct study tour to Fujian to learn about traditional village protection and rural revitalisation

A group of 16 students and faculty from Cheong Kun Lun College (CKLC) and Henry Fok Pearl Jubilee College (HFPJC) of the University of Macau (UM), with the support of Fudan University and the local government, conducted a study tour on traditional village protection and rural revitalisation in Qiangyang Village, Pingnan County, Fujian Province, from 11 to 17 July 2024. The study tour aimed to respond to the national strategy of rural revitalisation and traditional village protection, to enhance Macao students’ sense of responsibility and ability to contribute to the country and serve society, to deepen their understanding of the country, especially its initiatives regarding traditional village protection and rural revitalisation, and to promote exchange and friendship between students from Macao and mainland China.

 

Students and faculty from both UM and Fudan University stayed in Qianyang Village to experience rural life with the villagers and interact with them. The students also participated in two experiential learning courses offered by Fudan University, including ‘Protection and Development of Ancient Villages’ and ‘The Silk Road and the History of Ceramics Export’. After conducting village surveys, the students proposed practical and feasible action plans for the protection and development of Qianyang Village.
