To foster friendship between the youth of Sichuan and Macao and to deepen their understanding of the western part of China, Fung Ka Wai, associate master of Ma Man Kei and Lo Pak Sam College (MLC) of the University of Macau (UM), led eight students to Sichuan to participate in the ‘Cultural Memory Journey – Exploring the Bashu Symbols’ study camp from 27 May to 3 June 2024.
The study camp was sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Education’s ‘Ten Thousand People’s Scheme’ and co-organised by Sichuan University, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the University of Hong Kong, and UM. The activities included talks, visits, and cultural experiences, aimed at enhancing the understanding of Hong Kong and Macao youth of the significance and uniqueness of Bashu culture in Chinese history. The students also visited Sichuan University, Du Fu Thatched Cottage, Mount Emei, and other sites. At the closing ceremony, they shared their experiences and said that they had gained a lot from the trip and established close friendships.
