The Macao SAR Government, in collaboration with the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macao, actively participates in the Rural Revitalisation Project of the country, and lists Xiushui county in Jiangxi province as a focal area for rural development. In response to this policy, Cheng Yu Tung College (CYTC) at the University of Macau (UM) launched its first service-learning project in Xiushui county. A total of 13 students of CYTC, led by CYTC Resident Fellow Diane Lu and College Master Prof Alfred Wong, went to Xiushui to provide voluntary teaching at Yusheng Jinrong No. 2 Primary School. The team also had the opportunity to visit local landmarks of historical significance, including the Autumn Harvest Uprising Memorial Hall and the hometown of the esteemed ancient poet Huang Tingjian, which deepened their love for the country and Macao.
