From 15 to 18 November 2024, a delegation of 12 students from Chuanyuan College and Shie College of Beihang University visited Shiu Pong College (SPC) of the University of Macau (UM). Students from the two universities participated in an exchange programme titled ‘Exploring Macao’s Past and Present’.

Guided by SPC student volunteers, students and faculty from Beihang University explored Macao’s culture from different angles. They experienced college life at UM and toured the UM campus. The group also visited many historical sites and cultural landmarks in Macao, and enjoyed the city’s diverse culinary offerings.

Yang Yibai, associate professor in the Department of Economics, who is also a college affiliate of SPC, provided insights into the achievements, challenges and opportunities of Macao’s economic development, which further enhanced the academic depth of the exchange programme.

Students from Beihang University said that the exchange programme enabled them to experience first-hand Macao’s unique charm as a city where Eastern and Western cultures meet, which broadened their horizons. Meanwhile, students from SPC said that interacting with their peers from Beihang University gave them a refreshing perspective on youth, which provided valuable insights for their own personal development.
