A group of 12 students and faculty members from Nanyang College of Xi’an Jiaotong University, led by Director Guo Xiaoping, visited Henry Fok Pearl Jubilee College (HFPJC) of the University of Macau (UM) from 10 March to 13 March. They participated in a study camp on sustainable development of tourist destinations and explored the sustainable development strategies of Macao as a world centre of tourism and leisure.

During the study camp, students and faculty members from both colleges visited the UNESCO World Heritage Historic Centre of Macao, where they learned about Macao’s unique historical and cultural heritage and the various measures taken to preserve and promote the World Heritage Sites. Through field trips and exchanges, members from both colleges gained a deeper understanding of the importance of urban development in harmony with history and nature. They also learned about how to protect the ecological environment and preserve the historical and cultural heritage in the course of tourism development.

During the closing ceremony, the students engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as the relationship between the tourism industry and environmental protection, the preservation of cultural heritage, and the development of tourism infrastructure, and presented their perspectives and innovative ideas. The study camp provided valuable learning and exchange opportunities for students and faculty members from both colleges, and enhanced mutual understanding and friendship between them.
