On 10 September 2022, Lanzhou University and Cheong Kun Lun College (CKLC) of the University of Macau jointly launched the online programme ‘Silk Road and Ancient Chinese Culture Study Tour’.

The opening ceremony and a thematic lecture were held online on the same day. CKLC College Master Prof Zhang Meifang and officials of the Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs Office and China Youth League Committee of Lanzhou University attended the ceremony and delivered opening speeches. The opening ceremony and the lecture attracted participants both on-site and online. More than 80 students and academic staff from the two universities attended the events. As part of the programme, a series of events were held until 16 October 2022.

As the pandemic made it impossible to hold on-site activities this year, the two universities jointly launched the ‘Silk Road and Ancient Chinese Culture Study Tour’ online programme with a vast variety of activities. Through lectures on the Silk Road, experiential learning on intangible cultural heritage, live tours of famous ancient sites, various quizzes and other activities, the programme brought the online-participating students closer to the charm of the Silk Road and deepened the exchanges and interaction between students and academic staff of the two universities.
