On 2 August 2021, Macao SAR confirmed two COVID-19 cases and a city-wide nucleic acid test was held immediately under the leadership of the Macao SAR government.

In response, MLC put together an anti-epidemic team to support the city-wide test. Two MLC resident fellows, namely Gary Fung and Venus Viana, together with academic staff of the other nine colleges, provided assistance to the city-wide nucleic acid test, which was conducted around the clock for three consecutive days. MLC teachers and students threw themselves into the fight against the epidemic and provided volunteer services at three test sites, at UM, Seac Pai Van Public School, and Keang Peng School.

Through this activity, MLC members had the opportunity to develop competencies highlighted in the RC 2.0 Initiative. The teachers and students actively took up their civic responsibility. They also worked closely with the Macao SAR government and various departments of UM.
