Residential Colleges have been playing a role in helping students participants discover, develop and recognise their own talents and potentials to deal with different challenges in life. For this purpose, the Choi Kai Yau College (CKYC) held a workshop titled ‘Self-Discovery Cards’. Hosted by social worker Aggie Ng, the workshop aimed to help participants identify their talents in an exploration of their own strengths.
During the workshop, students were required to list ten skills they considered the most important by picking ten cards, which would help them re-discover their strengths and identify skills that are barely used. They also shared their life stories that were related to their skills. Each individual had his or her unique talents, so it was unnecessary to compare oneself with others. According to her, students should appreciate what they already have and develop abilities that they might need in the future.
In addition, CKYC organised a workshop titled ‘Master of Time Management’ that was also hosted by Aggie Ng. The workshop explored the importance of mastering time management early on and revealed the consequences of procrastination.
