The Shiu Pong College (SPC) organises global-perspectives seminar, themed at the legitimacy of Co-location Joint Checkpoint Scheme, with Dr Henry Ho Heng Man from the Faculty of Law as guest speaker. The seminar attracted more than 100 participants.
Dr Ho introduced Hong Kong’s co-location joint checkpoint scheme and the controversy surrounding the issue. He shared the comments from different parties, including the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Hong Kong Bar Association, Mr Li Fei (chairman of the Basic Law Committee of the National People’s Congress), and Mr Paul Shieh Wing-tai (senior counsel from the Hong Kong Bar Association) on this issue. He also talked about border inspection in different countries, such as the Woodlands Train Checkpoint between Singapore and Malaysia and the Allegro train travelling between Finland and Russia, to inspire participants to consider the issue from different perspectives. Many students said that the seminar was rich in content and they gained a great deal from it.
