As the number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise across the globe, stress and anxiety over the epidemic have also been increasing. To help students through this global crisis, the Moon Chun Memorial College (MCMC) called upon other residential colleges to co-organise the ‘Inner Peace in Adversity’ Mindfulness Awareness Week. Participating colleges included the Choi Kai Yau College, the Shiu Pong College, the Cheong Kun Lun College, the Lui Che Woo College and the Stanley Ho East Asia College. With the support of Macau Mindfulness Association, five sessions of online workshops were held, which covered such topics as living in the present, practicing mindfulness in everyday life, self-compassion techniques, as well as dealing with emotional storms and feelings of helplessness in life. It enabled students to know how to improve their own mental well-being by learning the relevant techniques. In the workshops, the mindfulness teachers interacted with participants through inspirational stories, personal experience sharing and guided meditation practices, allowing them to experience inner peace in the moment.

Also, the Choi Kai Yau College (CKYC) has organised various online workshops with other residential colleges during the pandemic, including ‘Healing Time - Coffee and Story’, ‘Relaxing Time - Encountered with Aromatherapy’, drawing psychoanalysis workshop titled ‘Draw What You Think’, ‘Peaceful Time - Gardening World’ and ‘Joyful Time - Music Entertainment’. These workshops aimed to help students soothe their emotions and reduce stress at home during the pandemic, and to provide an opportunity for students to continue to take part in college activities at home apart from taking online courses.
