Led by Dr Andrew Lao, resident fellow of the HFPJC, five students from the college and another student from CityU of Hong Kong joined the mobile classroom of Fudan University in Fujian Qianyan Village from 7 to 13 July 2019. On the one hand, the trip allowed the participants to experience a different way of living and to understand the importance of environmental protection and restoration of historical sites. On the other hand, it built a stronger bond between the two universities. Although the trip was short, the experience drew the participants’ attention to the issue of unattended ancient villages. It was a precious opportunity to make the teachers and students aware of the current problems faced by villages in China and the challenges faced by advocators of environmental protection.
