In the new academic year, the MLC welcomed more than 200 fresh undergraduates from mainland China, Macao, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and other regions and countries. On both of the move-in days on 12 and 13 August 2019, over 50 student leaders, volunteers, and college staff beat the drums to warmly welcome the new students and their parents. A welcome dinner was also held for them on 13 August. On 16 August, Prof Katrine Wong, interim college master of the MLC, delivered the first college lecture, in which she talked about the philosophy behind the university’s college education and expressed her hopes and expectations for the students. The House Association then held a variety of student orientation activities for new students to make friends, get to know more about the educational philosophy of the MLC, as well as adapt to their college and university life. It is expected that all of these would lay a solid foundation for the students in the upcoming four years of their studies.
