For college students to witness the development of the Greater Bay Area, the LCWC organised a visit to the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge on 25 August 2018. 42 faculty members and students participated in the activity. During the bus ride to the bridge, Prof Yip Ming Chuen, college master of the LCWC, explained the construction of the bridge from a mechanical perspective and analysed the problems encountered and their solutions.

The representative of the Bridge Authority walked with the participants from the Zhuhai-Macao section to the West Artificial Island, as well as showed them the design of the bridge in the field and a documentary on bridge construction. The representative answered students’ questions on the operation and management of the bridge as well. The activity was fruitful for the students and it was a valuable opportunity for them to visit the bridge before its opening.
