In celebration of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to the motherland, Ma Man Kei and Lo Pak Sam College (MLC) of the University of Macau (UM) held a sharing session on the ‘two sessions’ on 28 March. Ma Chi Ngai, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), was the guest speaker.

Ma gave an overview of this year’s ‘two sessions’, detailing the composition of the Macao delegation, the main agenda of the plenary sessions, the focus of the meetings, the main contents and tasks of the CPPCC Standing Committee’s work report, and the handling of proposals. In particular, Ma mentioned the important remarks made by President Xi Jinping during his presence at the meeting of political advisors from the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, the sector of science and technology, and the sector of environmental and resources. He also shared with the students the key messages of the important speech delivered by Ding Xuexiang, vice premier of the State Council, when Ding met with members from Hong Kong and Macao to discuss national affairs.

During the discussion session, Ma asked the students about their studies and future plans. He was also concerned about whether the international students had adapted to life in Macao. He encouraged the students to take an active part in society and welcomed them to participate in an internship in his company. The students were encouraged and expressed their interest in learning the spirit of the ‘two sessions’ and engaging in national development.
