The University of Macau’s (UM) Chao Kuang Piu College (CKPC) held its second high table dinner for the 2022/2023 academic year on 27 April 2023. Themed ‘Conquering Endless Mountains’, the dinner attracted the participation of about 120 students.

Xia Boyu, former member of the National Mountaineering Team and winner of the Laureus World Sports Award, was invited to the dinner as a special guest. He shared with the students his story of perseverance in the face of adversity. Despite losing his legs, he did not give up and successfully conquered Mount Everest on his fifth attempt. The students were moved by Xia’s story, and were inspired to stay determined to pursue their dreams. They praised Xia as a role model, whose experiences demonstrated that no challenge is insurmountable.

As the last high table dinner of the 2022/2023 academic year, the event also featured a House Association handover ceremony, and a certificate presentation ceremony to honour outstanding student leaders and graduates for their contributions to the college. Towards the end of the event, attendees enjoyed a video review showcasing the journey of the college over the past academic year, a singing performance, a CKpopC dance performance, and a group dance by the graduating class, bringing the dinner to a successful conclusion.
