Cheong Kun Lun College invited Dr Tai Wa Hou, president of Macau Physician Association of Public Hospital, executive director of Macau Development Strategy Research Centre, and advisor of the Office of the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR government, to its high table dinner. During the event, Dr Tai gave a keynote speech on how to be prepared for what it might come in the post-pandemic world.

In his speech, Dr Tai shared his experience of being on the frontlines and insights from his work during the pandemic. Using Macao as an example, Dr Tai explained the purpose of preventive measures, such as the face mask distribution scheme, border entry restriction policies, and nucleic acid test of COVID-19, which together made Macao safe and prevented the virus from spreading in the community even during the global pandemic. By presenting an overview of several past pandemics, such as the bubonic plague and smallpox, and the process of vaccine development, Dr Tai encouraged students to be optimistic and have faith that mankind will be able to overcome this novel coronavirus. He said that the pandemic might usher in a new era in the use of new technology. While some cultures and industries may gradually decline, new businesses and technologies would emerge. He added that we were all experiencing and witnessing the transition. At the end, Dr Tai encouraged students to think ahead, embrace changes, and prepare for social life and career development in the post-pandemic era.
